My FAQs

How do I hire Shelby Dennis for my next project?

First things first, get in touch with me! Whether via email or phone call, we’ll discuss the specific details and timeline of your project. Following the initial discovery call, I will send you a detailed proposal (usually within 48 hours of our conversation).

There is absolutely no cost for speaking with me & getting a quote for your project.

Once you approve my proposal and submit the deposit, I’ll start working on your project!

I do require a 50% deposit on all projects before I can start working. The remaining balance becomes due 30 days after you receive the first draft.


What about edits and revisions?

I include up to two revisions at no additional charge, provided it's within the original project's scope.

I do ask that you request revisions within 30 days of receiving the original draft or edited version.


What are your qualifications?

I've been writing under various job titles since 2006. I am a member of AWAI and a member of The Professional Writer's Alliance.

I've done many courses offered by AWAI, including:

...and I use all my free time to keep learning and growing!


Do you only work with beauty-related products and companies?

Before I began copywriting full time, I worked as a cosmetologist and salon operations manager for over a decade. Beauty is my niche, to say the least.

At the moment, I have written for a variety of companies, mainly in the beauty and wellness industries.

I also write for folks about DIY hairstyling, and about mom/dad/children's haircare. A big part of my salon experience was at locations catering to children and their parents.

That said, I also have a passion for community involvement. And I grew up with parents who owned their own small businesses. So it's no wonder that I love to write for local, small businesses... mom-and-pop shops...

Basically, anyone who's considered the "underdog" in the big world of American economics is someone I want to help!


What do you charge?

I do not work by word count, nor hourly.

I custom-tailor my fees based on your timeline, my current workload/schedule, and the size of the project. I'm also happy to discuss your budget and negotiate pricing in exchange for testimonials, referrals, etc.

As an example, I recently did a blog project with the following rates:

  • $140 for a 500 word blog post
  • $195 for a 750 word blog post
  • $250 for a 1,000 word blog post

What types of payment do you accept?

I accept credit cards and electronic bank transfers. Once you accept my proposal, you will receive an invoice via email and the deposit is due at that time.
